Nikola Tesla
This evening we present you with a feature about the equally ingenious and eccentric technitian, inventor and visionary Nikola Tesla. This man is widely regarded as one of the intrumental figures in the "Second Industrial Revoluion", the period when electrotechnics came into wide use in industry and households.
Nikola Tesla was born in 1856 in the former Austrian Empire
in a regiuon that now lies in Croatia. After his studies and some work
for European engineering companies he went on to work in the United
States, and there his career lead him to the fame heĀ is now known
for.
Working for and with Thomas Edison, Tesla became one of the leading
engineers in the emerging electrotechnical industry of the states. It
was only after his break with Edison though, that he went all the way
with research and development of technologies unheard of. His ultimate
dream was to develop a system of wireless electricity transmission that
should benefit the whole world. Unfortunately, his eccentricity and
borderline mania also hindered his success, and so Tesla was
undervalued after his death, and people like Edison, who were much more
successful businessmen, prevailed in the minds of people.
We want to do something about that and feature Nikola Tesla on this installment of our discussion feature.
